TREATMENT OPTIONS
Cancer treatments in Turkey: understand the option before choosing the technology
The treatment plan is driven by cancer type, stage, tumour biology, previous treatment and the therapeutic goal. Large Turkish cancer centres often combine medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine and molecular diagnostics.
Medical decisions are made by the evaluating physicians and hospitals. MEDITRAVEL coordinates access and communication.

Treatment pathways
Immunotherapy & targeted therapy
Biomarkers and treatment lines can determine eligibility.
Radiotherapy & radiosurgery
The technique should match the target, previous radiation and treatment objective.
Second opinion
Useful before major decisions or when more than one reasonable option exists.
Why multidisciplinary review matters
Complex cancers often require more than one specialty.
Who may be involved
Medical oncologist, cancer surgeon, radiation oncologist, radiologist, pathologist, nuclear medicine physician and disease-specific specialists.
What to ask
What is the goal? What alternatives exist? Why this sequence? Which biomarkers matter? What is the next step if the response is insufficient?
Frequently asked questions
Is immunotherapy better than chemotherapy?
Not as a general rule. Benefit depends on cancer type, stage, biomarkers and the approved treatment setting.
Does CyberKnife replace surgery?
No. It is a form of stereotactic radiation used in selected situations. It does not automatically replace an operation.
