NUCLEAR MEDICINE

Nuclear medicine in Turkey: imaging and radioligand therapy

Nuclear medicine can be used for imaging and, in selected cancers, for treatment with radiopharmaceuticals. Eligibility depends on the exact diagnosis, disease distribution, prior therapy, imaging and organ function.

Medical decisions are made by the evaluating physicians and hospitals. MEDITRAVEL coordinates access and communication.

PSMA PET/CT

An imaging test used in selected prostate-cancer settings; it is not itself a treatment.

A radioligand therapy used for selected patients with advanced prostate cancer when specific criteria are met.

Neuroendocrine tumours

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy may be considered in selected receptor-positive neuroendocrine tumours.

Safety review

Blood counts, kidney function and previous treatments may be part of eligibility assessment.

A positive scan does not automatically mean treatment is indicated

Imaging, clinical status and prior treatment history must be interpreted together by the nuclear medicine and oncology team.
